Georgian top seed Nikoloz Basilashvili lost the first qualifying round of Australian Open. The Georgian tennis player failed to No.32 seed Mate Delic of Croatia 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 8:6. The match lasted 2 hours and 5 minutes.
It was a sad loss because Basilashvili had a match-point, won more rallies than his opponent (121:119), used 2 from 10 break-points and lost only one serve. Nikoloz served 2 aces and made 5 double faults.
Georgia does not have a representative in women’s qualifying draw. Anna Tatishvili who plays for the USA is No.24 seed in the qualifying draw and will face Johanna Konta of Great Britain.
