Zaur Makharadze, 20-year-old goalkeeper of “Olympic” Donetsk (Ukrainian Persha League) was called up for the U-21 team of this country. Makharadze also played for the U-17 and U-19 teams, but was never invited to the “youth” team.
Zaur Makharadze: “Calling up for the Ukrainian youth team at first I heard from the goalkeeper’s coach. After I came to see my parents and returned to Donetsk, he called me and made me happy with this news”.
- First of all, what you thought at that moment?
- It was very pleasant news. I wanted to get to the Ukrainian youth team very much. This was one of the cherished aim for me. However, the euphoria has already gone. Now I am slowly preparing. After a short break, I am arranging myself as morally as well as physically. “Olympic” head coach also helps us.
- When you were called up for the team last time?
- I was often invited to the U-17 and U-19 teams when Alexander Lisenko was a head coach.
- Do you know supposedly in which matches will you play?
- Head coach should decide whether I play or not. We will prepare for the “Commonwealth Cup”, which will be held from January 24 including February 2 in Sankt-Petersburg.
- On what attitude will you leave for youth team?
- The mood is perfect. I would like to expose myself in the team. I want to identify my ability and justify the confidence.
