Georgian Water Polo Team Overcame the 2nd Group without any Failures

The national team of Georgia on water polo passed the 2nd qualification stage of the European championship 2014 without defeats. Let's remind that the first stage passed in Tbilisi and then Vladimir Iselidze's trainees easily defeated the national teams of Great Britain (12:3), Poland (16:10) and the Czech Republic (16:5), drew with the direct competitor Slovakia (7:7) and with 10 points won first place.

The Georgian water polo players showed still the best result at the second stage which has passed on Malta in which they won against all the rivals. As we already told you, in the first round the national team of Georgia beat Israel 13:8, and then also surely finished with Ukraine – 15:8, Belarus – 24:7 and the hostess of tournament - the national team of Malta – 16:12.

Honor of Georgia on this tournament protected Zurab Chumburidze, Marko Elacha, Damin Tsrepulia, Marko Elez, Galaktion Laitadze, Beka Kavtaradze, George Hvedeliani, Mikhail Bagaturia, Zurab Rurua, Konstantin Gegelashvili, Tato Nikoleishvili, Marino Franichevich, Beka Kapanadze.

The naturalized legionaries - Montenegrin Tsrepulia and Croat Elacha who has scored 14 and 13 goals, respectively, were most productive of national team structure on Malta.

So, Georgians took the D first place in group and in the total table also are among leaders. the 3rd qualification stage is planned for November 11-14 of this year.

Let's remind that at a qualification stage of 17 national teams carry out 3 group stages on the basis of which results the total table will be made and 6 best national teams leave in a playoffs.

The teams which have taken the first three places will meet the teams which have taken 10-12 places on CHE 2012 – Holland, Macedonia and Turkey, and the national teams which have come to 4-6 positions - will be crossed to the national teams which have taken 7-9 places on CHE 2012 – Spain, Romania and Croatia.

To a playoffs of team will carry out among themselves on two games - home and away. Winners will join those 6 national teams which occupied on CHE 2012 the first a pole of places – Serbia, Montenegro, Hungary, Italy, Germany and Greece.

The European championship of the 2014th year will take place on July 13-26th in the capital of Hungary Budapest.
