Merab Kvirikashvili (384 points), top scorer of Georgian national rugby union team, took responsibility on some mistakes in the match against Belgium. His several shots left the field and we received scrum on our half.
“Meko” talked about not so good match in Brussels. He hopes to play better against Portugal on February 9.
Merab Kvirikashvili: - Some factors caused bad play against Belgium. Our biggest minus was that we did not appreciate the opponent. We had to play with specific system. When our player was sin-binned, we needed time to mobilize. That incident at the beginning of the match prevented us from showing our play. We became aggressive and played individually in offence. In the second half we played better but made mistakes too.
- The field seemed shorter…
- I cannot blame short pitch but it also had effect. If we talk about the field, the main problem was its rough surface.
- What must we expect in the match against Portugal?
- Victory.
Shalva Mamukashvili: - I cannot say that Belgium was a weak opponent. It plays in our division but it played home. It was our first match in 2013 and I hope we will play better against Portugal.
