Georgian national rugby union team will hold the last match of Nations Cup 2013 against Romania tomorrow in Bucharest.
Jean-Claude Baque, president of European Rugby Association, took Nations Cup in Bucharest and will award winner team. Besides it, winner team will be awarded with “Antimoz Iverieli Cup”.
The Georgian team won Nations Cup five times since 2000. Romanians won four times. The only team which interfered in contradistinction between us was Portugal which won only once. The teams held 11 matches at “Antimoz Iverieli Cup” and the Georgians won 6 times. ”The Lelos” and “The Oaks” played against each other 16 times. Both teams have 8-8 wins. The Romanians have scored more points and tries – 29:26 and 315:301.
Two European participants of World Cup 2015 will be found out after this and next year’s Nations Cup. The both teams have 17-17 points.
Milton Haig, New Zealander head coach of the Georgian team, and rugby player Iuri Natriashvili showed up at the press conference. Lynn Howells, Welsh head coach of the Romanians, and captain Mihai Macovei were from the Romanian side. Alin Petrache, president of Romanian Rugby Unoin, opened the press conference and called up Romanian fans to go to the stadium.
Alin Petrache (president of Romanian Rugby Union): “It will be a tough match. We lost last three matches to Georgia but I hope “The Oaks” will break this unpleasant tradition. The last four matches showed that the team is on the best form. It is important that fans must come to the stadium. I am sure we will win this match and two Nations Cups with their support”.
Milton Haig (head coach of Georgian team): “We play against the Romanians twice in a row in Bucharest. We do not plan anything now because both teams are on perfect form”.
Iuri Natriashvili: “It will be a tough match. The Romanians could not beat the Georgians three times in a row. But I think Romania has better team now. I have watched all matches of the Romanians and I am sure, it will be real fight tomorrow”.
Lynn Howells (head coach of Romanian team): “The most important moment of tomorrow’s match is that we play on our field. It will not be an easy match. In 2011 Georgia beat us at World Cup, won three times in a row and now it is our time”.
Mihai Macovei (captain of the Romanian team): “We had productive week and tomorrow we will do our best to make fans happy. We want many fans to come to the stadium. We have young team which wants to play well. We know there are many experienced rugby players in the Georgian team who play in the best European Leagues”.
