Levan Kipiani - the minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia met journalists at the press hall of the Ministry. The briefing lasted for about an hour and the minister talked about the projects which had already carried out and also about the future projects. Besides, he answered the journalists’ questions.

 “As you know the government started the new project-“The Government of Georgia for Open Management” which goal is an involvement of society in governing of the country. The goal of the government is to make more transparent the responsibility of the government to people. I hope that this project will settle a new tradition of communication with people”-stated Levan Kipiani.

First of all the minister was asked about European Wrestling championship which was held in Tbilisi and he answered that for organizing this tournament everything was done perfectly and it got an international appraisal. Kipiani thinks that the result of Georgian sportsmen at this tournament also was good:” 7 sportsmen from 14 gained medal. It goes without saying that we wanted more but I think that the result is normal”-stated the minister.  

Levan Kipiani abstained from estimating working of sport federations- people can estimate the best, so it is better make conclusions yourselves, and the question is he going to make any chances in federations he said that it is not prerogative of the ministry.

The minister also stated that the ministry actively is working on a making a new law, the group of lawyers work on it and with their help there will be made activity plan in a month, which will be refined and legislative changes in the ministry will carried out in any way.

One of the most active sport topics are the schools of Georgian football, basketball and rugby and the clubs which are financed by the ministry. Levan Kipiani stated that financing the clubs is really very hard for the ministry, but while making a final decision they should not forget sportsmen too, he also added that for making a solution the ministry is working actively with the Ministry of Interior Affairs and Defense.

At the end of the briefing he also talked about the inevitability of the involvement of private businesses. He mentioned the investors, who play a big role in development of Georgian sport and he thanked them, because doing it is not profitable and they do it for just love of sport. According to him, the Ministry of Sports and Youths Affairs has negotiations with The Ministry of Finance for making some privileges for them.
