Greco-Romans Numbered Two New Weights

 

Georgian Greco-Roman wrestlers opened the season 2014 with domestic competition. Last weekend at the Vake wrestling club the Georgian Championship was held, but only in two new weight classes.

In 71kg Manuchar Tskhadaia surpassed all, who defeated Mindia Tsulukidze in the final. Nukri Shavadze and Giorgi Javakhia gained the bronze medals. In 80kg Giorgi Tsirekidze became the champion. He won over Lasha Gobadze in the decisive meeting, and third places were taken by Tornike Dzamashvili and Giorgi Datunashvili.

Recall, that according to the decision of the International Wrestling Federation three weeks ago, 8-8 sets of medals will be played at the European and World Championships and other international competitions in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling from new season.

Before champions and prizewinners in Greco-Roman were revealed in 55, 60, 66, 74, 84, 96 and 120kgs. According to the new rules, weight classes are renumbered as 59, 66, 71, 75, 80, 85, 98 and 130kgs.

The team has already begun preparations for the new season in Bakuriani under the leadership of Begi Darchia.
