Georgian U-23 saber fencing team won the title of the European champion. Georgia defeated Italy 45:36 in the final of Continental Youth Championship, which took place in Minsk, Belarus. The young Georgian fencers won the team championship for the first time in the history of independent Georgia.

Before final, the Georgians won over Bulgaria 45:34 and Romania 45:31. In semifinal, they defeated Russia 45:41.

Georgia’s U-23 team participated at the European Championship in saber fencing with following composition: Mikheil Mardaleishvili, Saba Sulamanidze, Nika Shengelia, Vazha Rechia.
