Tariel Khechikashvili, minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, made a comment on swimmer Irakli Bolkvadze’s doping scandal. Bolkvadze was in the Olympic team of Georgia and the leadership of the team replaced him by Revishvili before the beginning of the Olympics.
The athletes took drug test before departing for Brazil and Bolkvadze’s has tested positive for banned substances. The sportsmen requested to appeal the result. Several days ago Irakli Bolkvadze wrote in social network:
“I have good news! I received disputed test results which as I expected, turned out to be negative. This result proves that there was a mistake. The investigation will determine the cause of inaccuracy of the first test”.
As for Tariel Khechikashvili’s comment:
“The National Anti-Doping Agency must have appropriate response to the new circumstances. When the final investigation ends up, the national Water Sports Federation and the National Olympic Committee will make a statement. We will everything to protect the rights of our athletes. The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs will support them”.
