The Georgian hockey players, who have minimal conditions for preparation, occupied the second place in III division of the World Championship and showed themselves by individual actions.
Boris Kochkin was the most outstanding in the Georgian team, who was recognized as the best forward of the tournament and was the only Georgian, who hit the symbolic team of the competition. Team’s No.14 scored 10 goals and in top scorer’s battle shared first-second places together with Emrah Ozmen of Turkey.
Kochkin was leader among assistants as well. He was at the top together with Kolm Cannon of Luxemburg with 9-9 assists. As for the points, Boris earned 19 points and surpassed Ozmen with 3 points.
Another distinguished player of Georgian team Artem Koziulin scored 9 goals and 4 assists and occupied the 3rd place. Among Georgian hockey players, Roland Svanidze was the 3rd, who earned 3 goals and 7 assists.
Recall, that at the competition held in Istanbul Georgian hockey players lost to Turkey -4:5, then overcame Bosnia-Herzegovina (8:0), South Africa (6:5), Luxemburg (5:0) and Hong Kong (14:3). As a result, Turkey won the right to play in B group of II division for 2017 and the Georgians will be one of the main favorites of III division.
For instance, Mexico’s Ice Palace will host the B group matches of the World Championship’s II Division. Six countries will participate in it: Australia, Bulgaria, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand and North Korea. Turkish team will replace the worst of them at the top level, which will be one of the opponents of Georgia next year.
