Members of the EOC Coordination Commission (COCOM) are paying an unscheduled visit to Georgia. These members are Josef Liba, chairman of COCOM, and Katerina Nycova, manager of COCOM. The reason of the unscheduled visit is a natural disaster which hit the Georgian capital a few days ago. The EOC Coordination Commission members visited Olympic venues.
They held a press conference with Aleksi Akhvlediani, chairman of Tbilisi 2015 Organizing Committee.
According to Josef Liba, the Olympic venues are not damaged.
Josef Liba (chairman of the EOC Coordination Commission): “It is an unplanned visit. We were in Baku and decided to come here and see the situation with our own eyes. Unfortunately, we heard false information in Baku. One of them was that Tbilisi was under water. Fortunately, it is not true. We visited Olympic venues and they are not damaged. Vere basketball hall has some problems but it will be solved easily. We have already met your country’s Prime Minister who supports us. This evening we are going back to Baku and hopefully, we will be back again soon”.
Katerina Nycova (manager of the EOC Coordination Commission): “Georgia will have to pass an exam in very short period and role of media representatives and fans are great in it”.
According to Aleksi Akhvlediani, chairman of Tbilisi 2015 Organizing Committee, despite natural disaster, Tbilisi is still ready to host Olympic Festival.
Olympic Festival Tbilisi 2015 will be held from July 26 to August 1 this year.
