Batumi Hosting Biathle and Triathle World Championships

Today Tariel Khechikashvili, minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, and Klaus Schormann, president of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon, held a meeting at the Ministry. They talked about the preparation stage for Biathle and Triathle World Championships which will take place in Batumi on September 17-22. Klaus Schormann noted he is delighted with the preparation stage and is sure Batumi will host the tournament suitably.

Tariel Khechikashvili (minister of Sport and Youth Affairs): “A very important tournament will take place in Batumi. I am sure this championship will be held at high level. Such events help popularization of the country. Hopefully, a lot of youngsters will be involved in this sport”.

Klaus Schormann (president of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon): “I came here to visit the preparation stage for the championship and to meet the minister of Sport. Yesterday I also met Batumi City and the region governors. I am impressed with what I have seen. When I go back I will tell my colleagues that everything is going on well and a very successful tournament will be held in Batumi. I am happy that Batumi will host Biathle and Triathle World Championships. I want to thank the government, minister, volunteers and media. I want to call for media to promote this sport”.

On September 17-22 Batumi will host Biathle (swimming, running) and Triathle (shooting, swimming, running) World Championships. About 400 participants from 30 countries will compete in the championship.

It is worth mentioning that the 2014 World Championship was held in Guatemala and the 2016 World Championship will take place in Orlando.
