Tbilisi hosted European Weightlifting Championships on 11-18 April. The Georgian athletes won 4 medals – 3 silver and 1 bronze. After the end of the tournament organizers of European Championship made comments for journalists. Everybody noted the tournament was held at high level.

Zurab Bokolishvili (executive committee of the Organizing Committee): “I am very happy that Turmanidze competed so well and brought 3 medals to our country. Our guests and officials noted that Tbilisi hosted European Weightlifting Championships at high level. I am happy for having such good team. Hopefully we will organize other interesting events with this group. Of course, we will analyze mistakes and improve them. We gained a huge experience. I want to thank fans who came and supported the Georgian athletes”.

Kakhi Kakhiashvili (3-time Olympic champion): “Today Turmanidze competed well and won 3 silver medals. I want to congratulate him and the whole country on this victory. The tournament was held at high level”.
