Georgian weightlifting team’s member Irakli Turmanidze (105 kg) won silver medal at the European Championship, which was under way at Tbilisi Sports Palace. Georgian weightlifter lifted 435 kg.
Turmanidze lifted 192 kg in snatch. Then lifted 197 and 201 kgs without problem and won silver medal. Russian team’s member Chingiz Mogushkov had better result – 202 kg.
Irakli Turmanidze started clean and jerk with 225kg and successful attempt. Then, he lifted 231 and 234 kgs. Oleg Proshak lifted 235 kg and overall collected 435 kg. The personal weight of the athletes decided the fate of gold. Ukrainian weightlifter weighted 130,2 kg and the Georgian – 131,04 kg.
Chingiz Mogushkov took the third place with 432 kg (202+230).
In +105 kg weight category, Giorgi Chkheidze took part and occupied the 4th place in B group. After summarizing both group’s results, he moved to the 12th place.
So, the Georgian weightlifting team ended the competition with 4 medals.
Today champions and prizewinners were found out in +75 kg in women. Russian Tatiana Kashirina overcame all of them.
