The Organizing Committee’s members of Weightlifting European Championship hold a press conference at Tbilisi Sports Palace, where evaluated the past 3 days of the tournament. According to the organizing committee’s chairman Kakhi Kakhiashvili, representatives of European and World Weightlifting Federations are satisfied.
Kakhi Kakhiashvili (head of the European Championship’s organizing committee in weightlifting): “Three days of the European Championship have passed. Medals are distributed. The representatives of the International Federation and European Weightlifting Federation are satisfied with the organizational point of view. In private conversations, I was told that Tbilisi might host the World youth Championship in weightlifting in the future, let us see what will be. We have small flaws, but everything corrects quickly. Our goal is to popularize weightlifting”.
Irakli Medzmariashvili (Director of Organizing Committee): “Three days have passed and everything is going well. As you know, yesterday the record of European Championships was fixed. The representative of Azerbaijan Boyanka Kostova (58kg) lifted 109 kg in snatch and 137 kg in clean and jerk. Total was 246 kg, which is the record of European Championships”.
Giorgi Asanidze (head coach of the Georgian team): “We are waiting medals in heavy weight. Davit Gogia is one who has a chance to become champion. I would like to wish all the athletes to improve their results”.
At this moment, Irakli Gabrichidze starts participating in B group of 77 kg.
Another Georgian Giorgi Lomtadze will be involved in A group of 77 kg from 20:00 pm.
