On February 7-8 Athletics Palace hosted the Georgian Winter Open in Athletics. Besides the Georgians, Uzbek and Latvian athletes have also participated in the tournament. About 200 sportsmen gathered at Athletics Palace.
Some athletes established record at the tournament. Bachana Khorava (long jump) jumped 7 m and 94 cm which is record of the Georgian Winter Championships.
Saba Kurdgelia also showed himself in the long jump. He earned normative for World Youth Championship (7.27 m).
Nino Tsikvadze established Georgian record in hammer throw – 50 m. Diana Zolotukhina established record in pole vault (3.10 m). The both girls will represent Georgia at the European Youth Olympic Festival which will take place in Tbilisi in July.
Vasil Berishvili (vice-president of the Athletics Federation): “The tournament was well-organized. I am satisfied with the results of our athletes. Some Georgians established records. For example, Bachana Khorava jumped 7.94 m. Participation of foreign athletes was very important”.
